Agricultural output in Kazakhstan increased by almost 2%

In Kazakhstan in January-February 2014 the volume of agricultural production amounted to 139.7 billion tenge, which is 1.9% more than in the same period in 2013, reported the State Statistics Agency.

According to the Statistics Agency, in livestock breeding output totaled 137.1 billion tenge (up 1.9%), in crop production – 2.6 billion tenge (at the level of the previous year ).

As of March 1, 2014 compared with the same date in 2013 the number of cattle increased by 2.9% (to 6.2 million heads), horses – by 5.8 % (1.7 million heads), sheep – 0.4% (to 15.8 million heads), said the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”. Meanwhile, the number of goats decreased by 5% (2.5 million), pigs – by 13.8% (933,000 heads). Number of birds kept in all categories of farms increased by 3.7% – to 34.5 million.

We recall, as previously reported our agency, according to the Statistics Agency, on January 1 this year , the country had about 5.7 million heads of cattle.
