Almaty region exported 385 tons of beef, 64 tons of lamb in the first quarter

In the first quarter of the current year cattle population in Almaty region increased by 3.7 percent year over year and amounted to 1,181.4 thousand heads, horses – by 5.1percent and 334.9 thousand heads, poultry – by 6.9 percent and 10.2 million heads, reports “KazakhZerno.kz” NA.

According to the agricultural department, 743 heads of cattle were purchased by 7 farms, and 28 farms bought 8,511 heads of small cattle under the “Sybaga” program.

The volume of livestock production increased by 2 percent compared with the same period in 2018; it was produced 96.3 thousand tons of cattle and poultry meat (103.4 percent), 212.1 thousand tons of milk (103.1 percent), 355 million pieces of eggs (99.5 percent).

About 1,281 tons of meat, including 385 tons of beef, 64 tons of lamb and 832 tons of poultry meat were exported.
