94 hectares of grain crops have been lost due to dry weather conditions in Kazakhstan. Minister of Agriculture Assylzhan Mamytbekov told a telephone conference of the Government on Tuesday.
The drought is mainly hitting the southern part of Kostanay and Akmola regions, southern and eastern parts of Aktobe region.
“33 percent of grain crops across the country is in good condition, 55% – in satisfactory, 12% – in bad; 94 thousand hectares were killed. The most affected is Kostanay region, where only 18% of crops is in good condition,” said the Minister.
According to the forecast balance of the regions, about 12.8 million tons of grain will be harvested this year, which is practically the level of droughtly 2010.
