On the first day of the current month the number of sheep and goats in the country was 20 million 996.9 thousand heads. From the summer season the number of small cattle in the country is gradually reducing, wrote the correspondent of the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.
However, in general during the 8 months number of small cattle in the country increased by 3.1 million. We recall, back in January 2013, the number of sheep and goats in the country approached to 17 million 857 thousand heads.
Current level is lower than last year: in August, 2012 the number of sheep and goats was 21 million 548.4 thousand.
According to the Statistics Agency, the undisputed leader in the production and maintenance of sheep and goats are the farmers of the South Kazakhstan and Almaty regions. At the beginning of this month in the regions there were 4 million 173.3 thousand and 3 million 963.6 thousand heads respectively.
The next place in terms of number of small cattle is ocupied by East Kazakhstan and Zhambyl farmers whose sheep population exceeds 2.7 million.
