As of today, as reported in the regional department of agriculture to the correspondent of the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”, the harvested area of grain crops in the region amounted to more than 507 thousand hectares, or about 91% of the target. It was harvested about 875 thousand tons of grain. Semey and Tarbagataysky areas completed harvesting of grain.
On the same date, the region has already cleared 28 thousand hectares of buckwheat, or about 77% of the plan; the yield is 13 quintals per hectare. There is no peas left in the fields, harvesting of millet is almost finished. Farmers have begun to harvest sunflower seeds. Unfortunately, the rain is expected during all this week. But then the weather forecasters promise dry weather.
We recall that in 2013 farmers of East Kazakhstan will have to harvest 559 thousand hectares of grain crops and 384 thousand hectares of sunflower.
