Employment programme boosts poultry development in Eastern Kazakhstan

Новость на Казах-зерно:

The ongoing employment programme is now assisting in developing the poultry industry of the Shemonaikha district of the East Kazakhstan region. Some entrepreneurs have already received first loans for the development of mini farms. To date, chicken meat and eggs are imported here from Russia. However, by the end of this year, these products are to be produced locally.

Entrepreneur Alexei Gavrilyuk: «It is a beneficial loan with a 5.15% interest per year. I have imported the Haistex breed of chicken that is good for laying eggs. The President and the government have supported us well. It is much better now».

The first eggs are in high demand in local stores. Alexei is ready to increase production. He received a loan of three million tenge under the employment programmes. Now, he is building two more modern chicken coops, and will buy an incubator for the winter. In the future, he is planning to breed ducks and geese. The local government in their home district supports poultry farmers in every possible way and tries to primarily provide them with preferential loans.

Director of Shemonaikha District Employment Centre Natalya Bannikova: «Last year, we issued eight micro loans amounting to 19 million tenge. This year, we have issued 33 micro loans amounting to a total of 84 million. Poultry breeding is now a priority».

Officials have calculated that there should be ten more farms in the district for further development of the poultry industry. In this case, there will be no need to buy breeding hens abroad, while surplus production can be sold to Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semei. Dietary eggs are always in demand in all regions of the country.
