Food prices rose slightly in Kazakhstan – monitoring

The price situation with foodstuffs on April 1, 2014 (as compared with the end of March) changed slightly, believe in JSC “Kazagromarketing ” (KAM), relying on its weekly monitoring data that professionals started to carry out regularly, immediately after adjusting the exchange rate of tenge to the dollar on February 11. The IA “Kazakh-Zerno” is following researches of its colleagues.

“Price monitoring for staple foods according to JSC “Kazagromarketing” for the period from March 26 to April 1, 2014 showed an increase of average national prices”, noted in the KAM.

In particular sugar prices increased by 1%, rice (+1%), buckwheat (+1%), semolina (+1%), cereals, eggs (+1%), onion (+1%), potatoes (+1%), and cabbage (+1%).

During the period under review was also fixed a decrease in average national price of oats (-1%).

In terms of regions significantly (over 10%) increased prices for cabbage in Aktobe (+19%).

Price declines of more than 10% was noted in Astana on pearl barley (-11%) and onions (-11%), in Kokshetau on onion (-12%) and cabbage (-10%) .

“In other types of socially important food products average national price level has not changed or has changed significantly”, added the authors of the study.
