Gross output of agricultural products in Karaganda region in 2018 increased by 6 percent

In 2018, the gross output of products (services) of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in Karaganda region amounted to 278.1 billion tenge, which is 6.1 percent more than in 2017, reports in the regional statistics department.

Karaganda region ranks seventh after Almaty, Turkestan, the East Kazakhstan, the North Kazakhstan, Akmola and Kostanay regions. The share of Karaganda region in the republican volume of gross output of products (services) of agriculture, forestry and fisheries was 6.2 percent.

The gross output of products (services) of agriculture, forestry and fisheries is based on livestock products — 55.8 percent. The share of plant and agricultural products in agriculture is 43.8 percent and 0.2 percent respectively, forestry and fishery – 0.2 percent.

Compared to 2017, the gross output from livestock grew by 3 percent due to an increase in the number of dairy cattle breeding products – by 3.4 percent, horses – by 4.3 percent, and poultry farming – by 7.1 percent.

The increase in gross output compared to 2017 of 10.7 percent is due to an increase in the production of grain crops of 26.1 percent, vegetables and melons, root crops and tuber crops of 6.9 percent.

Let us recall, as previously reported “KazakhZerno.kz” NA, the harvest of cereals and legumes in Karaganda region in 2018 amounted to 956.9 thousand tons in weight after processing, which is 26.7 percent higher than in 2017.

In the structure of production of grain and leguminous crops, the share of wheat is 76.6 percent, barley – 20.4 percent, oats – 2.2 percent, and other grains and legumes – 0.8 percent.

Potato yield in 2018 amounted to 357.9 thousand tons, which is 11 percent higher than in 2017.

Agriculture, forestry and fishery occupy the output of products produced by the population – 44.4 percent. The share of products produced by individual entrepreneurs and peasant or private farms is 37.5 percent, agricultural enterprises – 18.1 percent.

Shares of Bukhar-Zhyrau and Shetsky districts make up 15.2 percent and 12 percent respectively.

“The growth of gross output of products (services) of agriculture in 2018 year on year is observed in 17 regions.” The biggest growth is observed in the Nurinsky district, Karaganda city and Osakarovsk district – by 17.4 percent, 12.9 percent and 10.7 percent, respectively, according to the statistical report.
