In 5 months, fresh vegetables rose by almost a quarter in the North Kazakhstan

Inflation in the North Kazakhstan region in January-May amounted to 2.4 percent, according to the regional statistics office.

Since the beginning of the year (May 2019 December 2018), statisticians have fixed an increase in prices for fresh vegetables of 24.8 percent, of which: onion – 55 percent, sweet pepper – 24.7 percent, garlic – 17.2 percent, carrot – 16.6 percent. Prices for white cabbage doubled. Along with this, potato has fallen in price by 7 percent.

Fresh fruits rose in price by 2.5 percent, including: bananas – by 20.4 percent, grapes – by 11.8 percent, pears – by 6.4 percent. At the same time, apples fell by 5.9 percent, oranges – by 8.9 percent.

The increase in prices for flour amounted to 19.4 percent, rice – 6.1 percent, bakery and flour confectionery products – 4.1 percent, pasta – 2.7 percent, reports “KazakhZerno.kz” news agency.

Prices for dairy products increased by 5 percent, alcoholic beverages – by 3.5 percent, fish and seafood, confectionery – by 3.1 percent, meat (including meat products) – by 2.8 percent, sugar – by 1.8 percent.

Egg prices fell by 0.6 percent.
