In January, the dynamics of sheep and goats population, in general, across Kazakhstan came into relative balance. That is, practically has not changed, or rather, has changed, but only by 0.01% with a decline, or by 2.1 thousand heads. But separately in the regions, the number of sheep has changed in different directions with sufficiently high amplitude. In eight regions of Kazakhstan the number of sheep and goats has increased, and in six has it decreased.
On November 1, according to the Committee on Statistics of Kazakhstan, the number of sheep and goats in Kazakhstan reached 20,138.6 thousand heads. By December 1, statisticians recorded 19,292.8 thousand heads of these animals. As a result, in November the number of sheep and goats decreased by 845.8 thousand heads or by 4.2 percent. In the new 2018, by 1 January, the number of sheep decreased during December to 18,300.6 thousand heads by 992.2 thousand heads or by 5.1 percent. A month later on February 1, the number of sheep and goats in Kazakhstan amounted to 18,298.5 with a decrease compared to the previous month by 2.1 thousand heads or by 0.01 percent, the IA “Kazakh-Zerno” reported.
Growth of more than 10 thousand heads took place in four regions. These are Pavlodar region — from 526.8 thousand heads to 542 thousand heads, by 15.2 thousand heads, the East Kazakhstan — from 1,670.6 thousand heads to 1,684.6 thousand, by 14 thousand heads, the West Kazakhstan — from 1,156 thousand heads to 1,167.8 thousand heads, by 11.8 thousand heads and the South-Kazakhstan region — from 4,071.4 thousand heads to 4,082,800 thousand heads, by 11.4 thousand heads.
The largest decline in the herd of sheep was in January in the Aktobe region from 1,085.7 thousand heads to 1,044.1 thousand heads, by 41.6 thousand heads and in Kyzylorda region — from 586.7 to 575.3 thousand heads, by 11.4 thousand heads. In other regions, the decrease is less than 10 thousand heads.
In three regions of Kazakhstan, the herd of sheep and goats exceeds 2 million heads. These are the South-Kazakhstan region – 4,082.8 thousand heads, Almaty region – 3,399.1 thousand heads and Zhambyl region – 2,609.7 thousand heads. In another three regions, the sheep population ranges from 1 to 2 million heads. In other regions, the number of sheep is less than 1 million heads, and the least number is in Mangistau region is 367 thousand heads as of February 1, 2017.
