In Kazakhstan, a herd of horses increased by 9.5 percent, cattle – by 5.3 percent

As of June 1, in all categories of farms the number of horses increased by 9.5 percenton a year-on-year basis and amounted to 3,135.2 thousand heads, cattle – by 5.3 percent and 8,787.5 thousand heads, respectively; camels – by 7.5 percent and 237.1 thousand heads; pigs – by 3 percent and 958 thousand heads; sheep – 2.2 percent and 22.5 million heads; goats – by 0.6 percent and 3,198.4 thousand heads; birds – by 6.3 percent and 46 million heads, “KazakhZerno.kz”NA reports, referring to the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As of June 1, 57 percent of cattle waskept in households of the population; 34.4 percent – in peasant or private farms and individual entrepreneurs; 8.6 percent – in agricultural enterprises; for sheep, respectively – 54.9 percent, 40.5 percent and 4.6 percent; goats – 70.4 percent, 29.1 percent and 0.5 percent; pigs — 63.4 percent, 11.9 percent and 24.7 percent; to the bird – 30.5 percent, 1 percent and 68.5 percent.

According to the statistics, in January-May 2019, slaughter in farms or sale for slaughter of all types of livestock and poultry in live weight amounted to 659.9 thousand tons, which is 4.8 percent more than in the corresponding period last year; cow milk production increased by 3.1 percent and amounted to 2,054.3 thousand tons, production of chicken eggs increased by 2.1 percent and amounted to 2,239.7 million pieces.
