In November, the herd of horses decreased by 65.1 thousand heads in Kazakhstan

Seasonal decrease in the number of horses continues. In November, the number of these animals decreased more significantly than last month in absolute and relative figures. Let’s remind, the number of horses this year reached a maximum in July. According to the Statistics Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as of July 1, 2016 in Kazakhstan, the number of horses was at the level of 2474.5 thousand heads, and as of July 1, 2017, it reached 2687.9 thousand of heads. As a result, for a year the number of horses increased by 213.4 thousand heads or by 8.6%.

According to the Statistics Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as of September 1, 2,508.6 thousand horses were kept in the republic, and by October 1, 2,445.3 thousand heads. As a result, in September the number of horses decreased by 63.3 thousand heads or by 2.5%. As of November 1, there were 2,397.2 thousand heads in the republic with a decrease of 48.1 thousand individuals or by 2% by October 1. As of December 1, statisticians recorded 2,332.1 thousand horses and mares. The decrease for the month was 65.1 thousand heads or 2.7%.

The number of horses decreased in all regions without exception. The smallest reduction of horses in the Mangistau region – by 0.7 thousand heads, in Kostanay – by 1.2 thousand, in Atyrau region – 1.8 thousand. The herd of horses in the Almaty region decreased the most – by 12.2 thousand, the East Kazakhstan region – by 10.2 thousand, in the South-Kazakhstan region – by 6.6 thousand heads. In other regions, the number of horses decreased from 2 to 5.3 thousand heads.

The largest herds of horses in the republic, more than 200 thousand heads, are kept in the East Kazakhstan, Almaty, the South Kazakhstan, and Karaganda region. In other regions the herd of horses is smaller. Less than 100 thousand horses are kept in Atyrau and Mangistau regions, – reports the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.

In 2017, in comparison to the last year, on December 1, there remains a positive balance of livestock in favour of this year. As of December 1, the difference between the periods of 2016-17 was 163.8 thousand heads or 105.2%. In all regions the number of horses in 2017 increased for the same period last year.
