In January-February 2014, the gross agricultural output of West Kazakhstan region amounted to 4,291.6 million tenge, of which 6.0 million tenge – crop production and 4,284.1 million tenge – livestock products. Index of physical volume of gross livestock production compared with the corresponding period in 2013 was 105%, crop production – 100.0%.
According to the regional statistics office, in all categories of farms in the region in January- February 2014 were slaughtered in the households or sold livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) of 7.9 thousand tons (105.2 % to the level of the same period in 2013); production of cow milk is 10.1 thousand tons (99.7%), chicken eggs – 21.7 million pieces (116.2%).
It should be noted that the main producers of meat are housoholds of Zhangalinsky (19.6% of total meat production volume), Zelenovsky (14.6%), Akzhaiksky (13.9%) and Kaztalovsky (11.0%) areas.
The greatest amount of milk is produced in farms of Zelenovsky (25.5% of the total milk production), Terektinsky (19.4%), Burlinsky (12.0%) and Taskalinsky (10.5%) areas.
Egg production is concentrated in the suburban area of Uralsk city (57.8 % of the total volume in the area) and at farms of Zelenovsky area (34.3%).
In production volume of major livestock products continues to dominate the share of private farms of the population, reports the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”. Thus, in January – February 2014 in the amount of sales of livestock and poultry for slaughter this category of farms holds 63.0%, in milk production – 78.1%.
As of March 1, 2014 the number of cattle amounted to 430.2 thousand heads (106.7% compared with 2013), sheep – 842.0 thousand (110.3%), goats – 190.0 thousand (101.1%), horses – 100.7 thousand (114.2%), pigs – 25.1 thousand (92.4%), and camels – 2.9 thousand (98.2%), poultry – 844.6 thousand (107.0%).
