Today, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received Agriculture Minister Assylzhan Mamytbekov, who reported on the agricultural sector results for 2012 and main approaches to its further development until 2020, the press service of Akorda said.
“The state provides comprehensive support to agriculture. Every year the funding is growing. The main purpose of the country’s agro-industrial complex is to provide up to 80% of the domestic market with the domestic food products. We have a lot to do under the program of agro-industrial sector development,” the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the importance of effective use of 7.8 million acres of agricultural land returned as a result of the inventory, as well as the development of processing industries and the increase in domestic meat production in order to export annually up to 60 tons.
In addition, the President noted the need to further improve the performance of the industry and the cost-effectiveness of agricultural projects.
A. Mamytbekov informed the President on the finalization of the program of agro-industrial complex development for 2013-2020, which aims to provide new tools to support agriculture and bring new technologies to the industry. The program also aims to encourage business to develop priority areas in agriculture. So, for seven years it is planned to allocate about three trillion tenge for the development of agriculture, reported the IA “Kazakh-Zerno” with the reference to “KAZINFORM ”.
Following the meeting, the Head of State gave concrete instructions on timely preparation for the sawing season and effective use of funds allocated for the development of agriculture.
