Kazakhstan: A lot precipitation for today, but it will be good for tomorrow – scientists

The calendar shows the last days of July, and peasants are gradually summing it up. The month was not the most favorable for the current agricultural year as a whole. But perhaps laid the foundation for future bread in the 2014. This opinion to the correspondent of the IA “Kazakh-Zerno” expressed the director of LLP “Karabalyksky SKHOS” of Kostanay region Elubaj Amanzholov.

The July rainfall raised some worries in the circles of Kostanay grain growers. Heavy rains could ruin the future harvest, but according to the head of the agricultural station, the condition of shoots does not cause specific anxiety.

As explained the respondent, in July fell about 165 mm of rainfall, though on 25, 26 and 27 of July – 114 mm. “There was not observed such rains in the region during this period over the past 12 years. Of course, this will have a negative impact on crop plants. Those that are planted in the lowlands will oppress. Now the main thing is that weather should improve”, said Elubaj Amanzholov.

If rainy weather does not drop back, it will be very difficult for wheat. Shoots will begin to turn yellow, stunt, the plants will have diseases, and weeds will attack them.

There is an advantage in this situation. The Head of the Experimental Station is convinced that moisture, which is now abundant in soil, will be a good basis for the next agricultural year. “The reserves of this moisture will rise in May, 2014 and will allow holding a good sowing campaign. At present we cannot say that everything is bad. Too much rain for today, but for tomorrow it can be good”, summed up the landowner.
