Kazakhstan: Akmola farmers at the finish line for sowing of oilseeds

Sowing of oilseeds in the region is nearing completion. Crops occupy about 99% of the planned sown areas. In acres it is about 276,000, writes the correspondent of the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.

We recall that last year farmers allocated relatively less space under cultivation of the above crops – 199.6 thousand hectares. It is planned to bring the scale of the current planting to 280 thousand hectares.

Cultivation of cereals in the region passed the barrier of 58%. As of today, they occupy 2.4 million hectares. According to the Ministry of Agriculture bulletins, the current sowing campaign is a little bit late on the performance compared with the last year.

In addition, potatoes and vegetables planting is nearing completion in the region, which occupied 18 and 4 thousand hectares, respectively.

In general across the country grain sowing campaign covered 9.2 million hectares, oilseeds – 1.8 million hectares.
