Harvesting campaign of cereals in the Almaty region has not been completed yet. Local farmers completed a plan for harvesting corn on 51.7%, rice – on 74.8% of the harvested area, the correspondent of IA “Kazakh-Zerno” was informed in the regional department of agriculture.
According to the official data, cereal crop yield in the current year is slightly above than last year. Hectare of maize yields an average of 55 quintals in the region. Gross yield for today approached to 186,439 tons, which is nearly 16 tons higher than in the same period in 2011 MY.
Rice yields are 37.9 q/ha. As of today local farmers harvested 40,174 tons compared to 37.5 thousand tons in 2011 year.
We remind, the harvest of wheat, barley, millet, and oats in the current agricultural year was about 629,328 tons.
