Kazakhstan: Crops sown on 99.7% of planned areas – Agriculture Ministry

Grain crops have been sown on 99.7% of planned areas in Kazakhstan. This year, agricultural crops will be planted on an area of 21.5 million hectares, which is 0.3 million hectares or 1.3% greater than in 2011.

Grain crops have been sown on 99.7% of planned areas in Kazakhstan,  Ministry of Agriculture says. Oilseeds, rice and corn account for the majority among the crops. Apart from that, vegetable crops were sown on 116.6 thousand hectares, melons on 75.9 thousand hectares and potatoes were planted on 183.8 thousand hectares. Sugar beet and cotton were planted as well. It was also noted in the Agriculture Ministry’s report that this year’s crops will be planted on an area of 21.5 million hectares, which is 0.3 million hectares or 1.3% greater than in 2011.
