Kazakhstan: Eggs output on Zhambyl farms decreased by 10%

In January, 2013 in all categories of farms in Zhambyl region for slaughter was sold 6.2 thousand tons of cattle and poultry in live weight, or 102.8% compared to this period last year, said the provincial department of statistics.

Gross milk yield decreased by 2.5 thousand tons (by 14.5%) and amounted to 14.7 thousand tons. Egg production compared to last year decreased by 0.7 thousand pieces (by 10%). According to statistics, in January, 2013 the average milk yield per cow from dairy herd was 137 kg, the average output of eggs – 7 pieces per laying hen.

On February 1, 2013 compared to the same period last year, the number of sheep and goat in farms in the area increased by 1.6% (to 37.5 thous. heads), horses – 1.7% (1.5 thousand heads), and the number of cattle decreased by 1.5% (by 4.5 thous. heads), birds by 9.3% (by 116.9 thous. heads).

“During this period, the region received 11.7 thousand heads of calves, 78.5 thousand lambs and kids, 6.6 thousand pigs. The farms in the area in January, 2013 fell 87 heads of cattle (90.6% compared to the previous year), 15 – pigs (10.6%), 1948 – sheep and goats (3.8 times), 106 – horses (26.5 times)”, the IA “Kazakh-Zerno” was informed in the regional statistics department.

In the production of the main types of animal products the major part is accounted for family farms of the population, which produced 82.6% of meat, milk 90.6%, 55.8% of eggs. The volume of gross agricultural output in January, 2013 in the region at current prices was 3847.9 mln. tenge.
