Kazakhstan: Farmers are not afraid of drought with zero techology

Farmers, who have started using zero technology in tilling, notice the stable high yield data. However, not all farms can successfully use this method of soil preparation because of territorial specificities of their lands, writes the correspondent of IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.

Landowners say that if minimize mechanical action, the soil moisture reserve necessary moisture level. “It is convenient because you do not need the extra time to dry land. I have engineered 2 units down to fit the system, zero technology are now applied on about 33% of farm lands. But it does not fit all farmers”, said the head of farm “Ulrich” Alexander Ulrich.

Landowner believes that the technology will work effectively on lands, where there are no natural sources of moisture nearby: no rivers or lakes. Peasant farming checked the effectiveness of the system in its fields. The yields on this land are a couple of quintals higher.

“If you completely switch to zero technology, you will have no need to worry about the harvest, even in times of drought”, said farmers.
