Kazakhstan: Grain reserves exceeded 14 million tons by February 1

As of February 1 this year, stocks of grain and leguminous crops in the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to 14.207 million tons, including in farm-peasant enterprises – 2.871 million tons, the press service of the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

Wheat by the reporting date was available in the amount of 11.577 million tons, including 9.540 million tons of food, 1.372 million tons – for seeds and 664,426 tons of forage.

Also stocks of other crops as of February 1, 2018 were as follows: corn – 113.901 thousand tons, rice – 233.298 thousand tons, barley – 1.530 million tons, rye – 5.770 thousand tons, oats – 190.509 thousand tons, buckwheat – 132.490 thousand tons, millet – 19.301 thousand tons, a mixture of cereals – 74.484 thousand tons.

We recall, as previously reported the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”, according to the committee on statistics, the gross harvest of barley in the country following the results of the harvest campaign-2017 amounted to 3.3 million tons, which is 2.3 percent higher than in the previous year and is the historic high for of this crop. The yield of barley in 2017 approached the level of 16 quintals per hectare.

Gross harvest of wheat amounted to 14.8 million tons, which is only 1.2 percent lower than a year earlier. At the same time, the average yield of Kazakhstani wheat in 2017 reached 12.4 q / ha, exceeding by 16 percent the average figure for the last 5 years.
