In Kazakhstan in January-December, 2012 the volume of agricultural production totaled 1.939 trillion tenge, which is 17.8% less than in the same period in 2011, said the Statistics Agency of the Republic.
According to the Statistics Office, volume of output in livestock sector totaled 1.016 trillion tenge (down 3.9%), in plant growing – 917.6 billion tenge (down 27.7%).
As previously wrote IA “Kazakh-Zerno”, in 2012 Kazakhstan harvested 14.7 million tons of grain in bunker weight. We remind that in 2011 Kazakhstan had a record 26 million tons of grain. The low yield in 2012 was due to the drought observed in summer period in main grain growing regions.
According to the Statistics Office, as of January 1, 2013 compared to the same date in 2012 the number of cattle decreased by 0.6% (to 5.7 million heads), sheep – by 1.1% (15.3 million heads), goats – by 2.4% (2.6 million), pigs – by 12.3% (1.1 million heads), camels – by 0.4% (172.6 thousand heads).
Meanwhile, the number of horses increased by 1.9% (1.6 million heads), birds – 2.8% (33.8 million).
