Kazakhstan: In backyards of pig producers was fixed a decrease in population

On the first days of March the number of pigs in the country was 933.1 thousand heads. That showed a reduction in their number compared to the same period in 2013 by 150,000, writes the correspondent of the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.

Then, at the beginning of spring in backyards of cattle breeders were 1,083.1 thousand heads. We recall that the Kazakh breeders in the period of acquired independence had 3,223.8 thousand pigs. But in subsequent years, livestock producers have failed to save or exceed this figure.

The lowest number of pigs in the country was fixed in the 1997-1999 period. Then the total amount in the republic did not exceed 1 million. For 11 years, since 2000, pig breeders gradually increased the number of their cattle. So, at the end of 2011 their number was at the level of 1,204.2 thousand heads. By the end of 2012 the number of pigs in the country again fell to 1 mln. 56.6 thousand.
