Kazakhstan: In the Pavlodar harvesting is delayed by rains

Новость на Казах-зерно:

In Pavlodar region because of the rains harvest will last until mid-October. This was said during a trip to Scherbakty district by the akim of Pavlodar region Yerlan Aryn.

“I think we’ll have to extend the harvest until mid-October. A number of farms have finished harvesting; they support our appeal – and move and machinery, combine operators to help other farms. The main thing now is to remove the harvest from the fields, not to leave it there. Then to dry it and keep safe”- said the head of the region.

As reported by the regional department of agriculture, on October 1, from the fields was harvested 80%.

Three districts of the region – Lebyazhye, Maisky and Pavlodarsky have finished cleaning. The average grain yield in the region is of 13 quintals per hectare, which is almost 3 times higher than in 2012. In two areas – Irtyshsky and Zhelezinka – the average yield reached 15.7 q/ha.

Earlier, it was planned to complete grain harvesting in the region before October 5.

We recall, as previously informed the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”, if in 2011 Pavlodar growers had nearly reached the harvest of 400 thousand tons of grain, then in 2012, 800 tons more were necessary to reach the figure of 250,000 tons. Abnormal heat wave has contributed to this: except 7, nearly 100 thousand hectares of fields were written-off, and this is the fifth part of the total area harvested in the region.
