Kazakhstan: In Zhambyl farms milk production increased, output of eggs decreased

In January-May in all categories of Zhambyl farms for slaughter was sold 32.9 thousand tons of cattle and poultry in live weight, or 106.9% compared to this period last year.

According to the regional statistics office, gross milk production increased by 776 tons (0.8%) and amounted to 95.9 thousand tons. Egg production compared to last year decreased by 1,919 thousand pieces (by 5.3%), said the IA “Kazakh-Zerno.”

In January-May 2014 the average milk yield per cow of dairy herd totaled 890 kg, the average output of eggs – 49 pieces of epieces per laying hen.

As of June 1 this year compared with the same period last year, the number of cattle in the farms of the region increased by 0.7% (2.3 th. heads), sheep and goats – by 1.2% (38.3 th. heads), horses – by 3.6% (3.7 th. heads) camels – by 2.4% (0.1 th. heads and poultry number decreased by 3.3% (by 46.9 th.heads).

During this period, in the region were received 92.3 thousand heads of calves, 1,091.5 thousand heads of lambs and kids, 29.1 thousand piglets, 27.8 thousand foals.

According to statistics, in the farms of the region in January-May were lost 78 heads of cattle (23.2% compared to the previous year), 28 – pigs (14.2%), 5,016 – sheep and goats (111.3%), 39 – horses (26.2%).

We should note, in the production of basic livestock products the predominant part accounted for private farms of the population, where was produced 74.6% of the meat, 88.1% of milk, 66% of the eggs.

“The volume of gross agricultural output in January-May 2014 in the area in current prices amounted to 30,192.6 million tenge” – summed up the statistics.
