Kazakhstan increased export of oilseeds by 56%

In Kazakhstan in 2016-2017 marketing year, the export of oilseed seeds amounted to a record 719 thousand tons. Last year’s indicator was exceeded by 56%, Customs Control Committee of the Ministry of Finance said.

The amount of flax seeds shipped abroad was the biggest – 315,000 tons (+ 31% compared to the previous season). At the same time, 40% of the total shipped volume of flax – 124.8 thousand tons – was exported to Belgium.

The export of sunflower seeds also increased significantly, to 270 thousand tons (+ 66%). Uzbekistan, for example, purchased from Kazakhstan 144 thousand tons, China – 101 thousand tons.

It should benoted, as IA “Kazakh-Zerno” informed earlier, this year the area of oilseeds in Kazakhstan has grown significantly and amounted to 2.4 million hectares: lentils, soybean, rape, flax.

The area of oilseeds increased by 28% in comparison with 2016, and the area of rapeseed – by 54%, the lentil crop acreage is about 300 thousand hectares (2.8 times more than last year).

Kazakhstan occupied the 5th place in the world for lentil crops.
