Kazakhstan increased rice export by 63%

Kazakhstan increases rice exports on the background of increased production of the crop.

Thus, according to the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for four months of 2017/18 MY (September-December), Kazakhstan exported 25 thousand tons of rice, which is 63% higher than the exports of the previous season.

It should be noted that in the same period of last MY Kazakhstan supplied about 15.3 thousand tons of rice to foreign markets.

The main markets for Kazakhstani rice are Tajikistan, Ukraine, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan.

As it was earlier reported by the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”, according to the results of 2017 rice production in the country amounted to 185.7 thousand tons, which is 3.3% more than in the previous year.

Rice growing in Kazakhstan is concentrated generally in Kyzylorda region. The area under rice in the region in 2017 was more than 90 thousand hectares, which is 10 thousand hectares more than it was in 2016. The yield of Kyzylorda rice growers amounted to 174.9 thousand tons (+ 3.1 percent).
