In Kostanay region growers plan to collect a record harvest of vegetables and potatoes. This was announced by the deputy akim of Kostanay region B. Zhakupov.
“The big target for the upcoming harvest is facing vegetable growers. With the increase in acreage in agricultural formations of the area under vegetable crops for 100 ha and potatoes for 116 ha, the expected gross yield of potatoes will exceed 50 thousand tons, an increase in potatoes over the previous year will amount to 25% “, he said.
According to him, the vegetables harvest will also increase by more than 16 thousand tons, which is 23% higher than last year, informed the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.
“These volumes are sufficient to meet the needs of the urban population of the region in the fall, put the required amount of vegetables into the winter storage and create a stabilization fund. All this, of course, contributes to the saturation of the domestic market with locally produced vegetables and stabilize market prices”, said B. Zhakupov.
