Current winter became generous gift for the North Kazakhstan farmers after a difficult dry year. Land in the farms is covered with a thick layer of snow. Now, farmers rely on the warm spring, wrote the correspondent of the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.
This year, the issue of winter precipitation did not affected farmers. It has fallen too much and there is no need in spending snow retention activities in the fields, explained in the regional agricultural department. One trace was conducted on the area of 3.2 million hectares. The second phase of field works so far covered 300 thousand hectares.
Today, local land is covered with an average of 50 to 80 cm of snow. “The main thing is that spring should favor a gradual absorption of the snow in the soil. According to our estimates, it will be warm, so we can hope for a good soil moisture reserves before planting”, explained in the department.
In the agricultural department assured that pre-sowing structure is not ready yet. Now the farmers are busy preparing for future sowing. As previously wrote our agency, a certain amount of seed that is 546.2 thousand tons, is prepared. Today, farmers are preparing lists in order to receive subsidies.
