Grain mites appeared much earlier than usual, for 2-3 months. This will serve as a sharp movement of market, said traders in a telephone interview with the correspondent of IA “Kazakh-Zerno”. The grain in the warehouse
s of the North Kazakhstan has already been attacked by grain mite, with veiled sneer traders say: “they have kept grain for too long”. During the beginning of the year the grain market traditionally stops and work usually starts at the end of January. The appearance of the pest may change the tradition this year.
“Yes, when grain was brought to us for sale, we noticed mite. Now farmers will quickly sell their crops”, said traders.
In addition, a sensitive issue is the prospect of increasing prices which farmers plan to drive to 45 thousand tenge per ton of wheat.
“Now 42-43 thousand per ton and the price suits us as buyers. But if the price will rise by 2-3 thousand, then it would not be profitable to buy grain – Pakistan will export their goods”, outraged grain traders. In this scenario traders will lose competitiveness.
