In the course of the working trip to northern Kazakhstan, President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with heads of the agricultural enterprises in Aiyrtausky district.
The Head of State greeted participants of the meeting and noted it is always a pleasure to visit the North Kazakhstan region.
At the meeting, governor of the region Samat Yeskendirov briefed the Kazakh leader on socioeconomic development of the province, various sectors of economy and social sphere.
The meeting mainly focused on the development of regional agro-industrial complex and the problems that agrarians are currently facing in their attempts to make it more efficient and competitive in the modern conditions.
President Nazarbayev paid utmost attention to the diversification of the agrarian sector, promotion of its import potential and creation of new agricultural enterprises. The Head of State stressed that authorities will support only the most efficient enterprises that don’t go round in circles.
N. Nazarbayev harshly criticized the volume of foreign trade in the region, especially emphasizing its low potential. “The province is one the largest flour producers in the country and its products should be sold at the republican and foreign markets,” the President pointed out.
The Kazakh leader noted that agriculture is the main economic sector in northern Kazakhstan and locals need to work more effectively, reported the IA “Kazakh-Zerno” with the reference to “Kazinform”.
In general, the Head of State positively estimated the work done by the region and wished those present success. “Due to weather conditions, the harvesting campaign has been prolonged, but rain won’t stop us,” President Nazarbayev commented recent delay in harvesting campaign.
