The gross agricultural output in January-May 2019 increased by 3.7 percent (annual plan – 106.2 percent), Minister of Agriculture S. Omarov said at a government session.
This growth was mainly due to an increase in gross output of livestock products by 3.6 percent, which, in turn, was due to an increase in the slaughter of livestock and poultry in live weight by 4.8 percent, and milk production of raw cow milk by 3.1percent, by an increase in the number of chicken eggs produced – by 2.1percent, reports “KazakhZerno.kz” NA.
“The growth of livestock production is associated with the successful implementation of “Sybaga”, “AltynAsyk” and “Yrys” loan programs. For 5 months of the current year, 254 farms were credited under these programs for the purchase of cattle in the amount of 41.8 thousand heads, which is 43 percent of the total annual plan, 340 farms for the purchase of breeding stock of small cattle in the amount of 132.1 thousand heads, or 36 percent of the total annual plan. Under“Yrys” program, 3 milk-producing complexes with a total population of 2,000 heads have been introduced since the beginning of the year,”the head of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized.
Crop production for the period increased by 108.1 percent. This is due to an increase in cabbage production in Turkestan region.
