According to the Republican Statistics Agency, the number of cattle in South Kazakhstan backyards, compared with 2012 increased by 2%. At the beginning of this year, the number of cattle was 854.5 thousand heads. At same date in 2012 their number corresponded to 837.6 thousand, said the special correspondent of IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.
Over the last 3 years the largest amount of cattle in the region was recorded in June 2012. At that period South Kazakhstan breeders kept on their farms about 1 million 44.5 thousand heads of cattle.
Also, at the beginning of January there were about 2 million 541.2 thousand heads of poultry, 189.7 thousand horses and 45.9 thousand pigs.
In addition, the number of sheep and goats in the last reporting period amounted to 3 million 797.4 thousand heads. This is 50.8 thousand less than at the beginning of 2012.
The share of livestock breeders in South Kazakhstan region is over 15% from the total number of them in the country. We remind, on January 1, this year there were 5 million 668.5 thousand heads of cattle in the republic.
