South Kazakhstan: Sowing of cotton is going slow

We recall that, according to the department of agriculture of the South Kazakhstan region, exactly a week ago cotton occupied 124 thousand hectares. For seven days the local cotton growers planted 4 thousand hectares, wrote the correspondent of the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.

Today, cotton is sown on 128.7 thousand hectares of 131.3 thousand planned. It should be noted that this year farmers have reduced the area of cultivation by more than 10%.

Sowing of spring grain crops in the region exceeded the planned volumes by 8%. Thus, crops are sown on almost 54 thousand hectares. Sowing of oilseeds, which occupy 97 thousand hectares of 106 planned, is also nearing completion.

In addition, the region is sowing melons, which cover 57 thousand hectares. Local farmers planted nearly 30.5 thousand hectares with vegetables. Potato fields are spread on over 12 thousand hectares.
