Sowing of grain crops in southern regions of Kazakhstan is performed on 42.3% of the area – MoA

As of April 14, according to the regional departments of agriculture, sowing of spring cereals in southern regions of Kazakhstan is performed on 42.3% of the planned area – 175.2 thousand hectares.

It should be noted that sowing of grain crops in Almaty and Zhambyl regions is carried out 20% less than at the same period last year.

As can be seen from the summary of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, farmers of southern regions planted oilseeds on 15.4% of the total area. Sowing of perennial grasses is performed on 70.8 thousand hectares – 65.4%, reported the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.

We recall, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2015 crops will be located on an area of 21.5 million hectares. Land under cultivation will amount to 18.5 million hectares. Grain crops will be sown on 15.2 million hectares, including wheat – on 12.2 million hectares. A reduction in wheat acreage compared with last year will be 235,000 hectares, in rice sown area – 8.5 thousand hectares; oilseeds will occupy an area of 2.2 million hectares, feed crops – 3.7 million hectares, melons and potatoes – 14 thousand hectares.
