Sowing of spring crops in southern regions of Kazakhstan is performed on 38.4% of the area

After adverse weather conditions in the south of Kazakhstan farmers continue sowing campaign.

Thus, according to regional departments of agriculture, as of April 10, sowing of spring cereals is performed on 158.8 thousand hectares, accounting for 38.4% of the planned area.

As indicated in the report of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, on the specified date sowing of cereals in Almaty region is performed on 10.7% of the area, in Zhambyl – on 78.2%, in Kyzyl-Orda – on 76.5%, in the South Kazakhstan region – on 53.2%.

Oilseeds in southern regions of the country are planted on 50.4 thousand hectares – 14.1% of the area.

Also sowing of potatoes, vegetables and melons is being carried out in three regions.

We recall, as previously reported the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2015 it is planned to sow crops on an area of 21.5 million hectares. Planting acreage will be 18.5 million hectares. Cereal crops will be sown on 15.2 million hectares, including wheat – on 12.2 million hectares. Expected reduction of wheat acreage compared with last year is about 235,000 hectares, of rice acreage – 8.5 thousand hectares; it is planned to plant oilseeds on an area of 2.2 million hectares, feed crops – on 3.7 million hectares, melons and gourds and potatoes – on 14 thousand hectares.
