A significant increase in population of small cattle was fixed in the country. If last month statistics in the republic reported about an increase in the number of small cattle in comparison with the beginning of the year by 30 thousand heads, then in March the additional growth was 730 thousand, writes the correspondent of the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.
We recall that in February, the number of sheep and goats in the country crept up to the level of 17.5 million head s. On the first of March, their number was 18,292.1 thousand heads.
It should be noted that the previous six months were marked only by decrease in cattle number in backyards. We recall that only last November the number of small cattle in the country decreased by 3.4 million heads, as indicated by the data of the Statistics Agency.
According to the Agency, the undisputed leaders in the production and maintenance of sheep and goats are the farms of South Kazakhstan and Almaty regions. At the beginning of the current month in the regions were 3.8 million and 3.3 million heads of above mentioned small cattle respectively.
These were followed by livestock farms of Zhambyl and East Kazakhstan regions, whose cattle population exceeds 2.3 million.
