The price of bread in Kazakhstan increased by 87.8 percent for 25 years

LS decided to find out how much bread was produced in Kazakhstan from 1993 to 2018 and how the price of this product changed.

Let’s recall the year 1993: the tenge was just put into practice. This year, the amount of fresh bread totaled 1.6 million tons. At the same time, 1 kg of wheat bread made from top-grade flour cost 67 tiyn.

Five years later, production decreased and amounted to 514.5 thousand tons, and a kilogram of products cost 40 tenge. By 2008, bread baking increased to 655.1 thousand tons, and the price increased 3.1 times (the gross grain harvest in 2008 in the republic amounted to 15,578.2 thousand tons –“” NA).

Ten years later, in 2018, the factories supplied 703 thousand tons to the shelves, and the cost of a kilogram of bread increased by 87.8 percent to 231 tenge (for reference: in 2018,about 20,273.7 thousand tons of grain was harvested in the republic).
