West Kazakhstan: Fruits, vegetables and potatoes significantly rose in price

In the consumer market of the West Kazakhstan region prices of goods and services in March, 2015 compared to December, 2014 increased by 1%. It is reported by the regional department of statistics.

In March the food price index amounted to 100.2%, which was driven by higher prices for alcoholic beverages by 0.7%, fruit and vegetables – by 2%, tobacco products – by 2.9%. Potatoes rose in price by 4.6%. Prices of sugar fell by 2%, poultry meat – by 3.1%.

According to statistics, in January – March the food price index amounted to 101.3%. Prices for pasta increased by 1.8%, cheese and cottage cheese – by 1.9%, alcoholic beverages – by 2.3%, fish and seafood – by 2.4%, tobacco products – by 5.6%, fruit and vegetables – by 7.9%. Potatoes rose by 10.9%, reported the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”.

Prices of sugar fell by 9.8%, poultry – by 3.1%, sunflower oil – by 2.1%.
