West Kazakhstan: Grain harvest is expected to be 2.5 times lower than last year

This year in the agricultural sector are being implemented two investment projects worth a total of $ 1.4 billion tenge, according to the press service of the akimat of the West Kazakhstan region.

According to the regional department of agriculture, the gross production in the agricultural sector increased by 3% and amounted to $ 27.9 billion tenge.

All areas have fixed an increase in gross agricultural output, except Terektinsky district and the regional center.

As noted in the agricultural department, due to adverse weather conditions the gross grain harvest this year is expected in the range of 90-95 thousand tons in weight after processing, which is 2.5 times lower than last year’s volume, reports the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”. In this regard, there is a risk of reduction of gross agricultural production compared with the previous year by 4-5%.

We recall, as previously reported our agency, farmers of the West Kazakhstan in 2014 harvested 232.7 thousand tons of grain with an average yield of 8.2 q/ha.

It should be noted that the production of meat increased by 4.5%, milk – by 0.9%, eggs – by 2.1%. Whereas, meat production declined in Terektinsky district, milk production in Zelenovsky district and in Uralsk city, eggs in town and Bokeyordinsky district.

This year 2 investment projects worth a total of 1.4 billion tenge are being implemented in this area. Four feedlots with the total capacity of 2,800 heads are under construction.
